RheumaBlog’s been nominated

To my surprise, the editors of Healthline have nominated RheumaBlog for their second annual “Best Health Blog of 2012!”

According to the website, Healthline’s mission is to improve health through information.

“We focus our efforts on offering readers and visitors to our site objective, trustworthy, and accurate health information, guided by the principles of responsible journalism and publishing,”

states the text on the “About” page.  It continues:

“Our editorial philosophy is to use relevant and accurate content to promote a healthy lifestyle and facilitate disease prevention, as well as to offer clinically significant, medically reviewed information for those who are seeking answers to their health questions. All original content is produced by highly skilled writers or experienced health professionals who are adept at researching a variety of topics and delivering concise, accurate, and engaging information in an easy-to-understand format.”

And so it does. I’m honored to be nominated for Best Health Blog of 2012. The contest runs from now through Feb. 13, 2013, and the winner is awarded $1000. Second place wins $100  and third, $50.

You can help me win by clicking on the “Cast your Vote” icon near the top of the left hand column. Under the “Alphabetical” listing you’ll find RheumaBlog on page 14.  You can vote one time per blog per every 24-hour period.

While you’re visiting Healthline’s website, do check out the many excellent articles about health (many subjects!) they offer. They’re right: Good information can improve your health.

  1. I tried to vote for you. First, it told me I could only vote if I logged in using Facebook or Twitter. Real men don’t tweet, so I clicked the Facebook button — several times — but nothing happened.
    So it’s just like a real election…

    • Larry! Hi! Hey, it wouldn’t BE a real election if it worked, right? I’ve asked the person who emailed me regarding the nomination to address the voting problems. And like you, I’m irked that one has to be a twit or a Face to vote. I don’t twit either, and find Facebook way too rude and intrusive.

Thanks for trying, anyway. It’s wonderful to hear from you!

    • Well, congratulations, Penguin! I’ll certainly head on over there and vote for you, if I can. I guess I’ll have to grit my teeth and open my Facebook page, but for you, it’s worth it. Good luck! You deserve to win!

      • Thanks – reciprocal vote appreciated! 🙂 I’m not sure if I voted for you or not yesterday – I certainly thought I did … but if I didn’t then I definitely have today!! I don’t recall getting the thank you for your vote confirmation yesterday that I got today – hence the doubt!

  4. Tried to vote again today. I click the “Vote” link, then the demand to log on to Facebook comes up. I click on that and nothing happens. After clicking several times, I get no logon screen and the vote tally hasn’t incremented.

    • Dang, Larry. I did email Healthline about this; the person who wrote back said they made the votes go through Facebook and Twitter so they could more accurately tally them. Yeah, I wasn’t very satisfied with that answer, either, but I guess we’re stuck with it. Thanks for trying to vote for RheumaBlog anyhoo! Consider yourself hugged!
